Len Goldfine : President and CEO
Mr. Goldfine has more than 30 years experience
as a senior executive in the laser and electro-optics industry. Mr.
Goldfine has held management positions at Coherent, Inc. where he
was Director of Marketing for the $50 million ophthalmic laser
business and at PDT, Inc. where he was Chief Operating Officer. He
also served as V.P. of Marketing & Sales at ILC Technology
prior to its acquisition by PerkinElmer Optoelectronics. He holds a
Bachelor of Arts degree from Rutgers University and has a Master of
Science equivalent in Physiology/Biochemistry from the Faculty of
Medicine, University of Ghent, Belgium.
Rodney Romero : VP of Engineering
Mr. Romero has more than 15 years experience
in the design and manufacture of flash lamps and other high
intensity gas discharge light sources. Starting in 1992, he was
employed by ILC Technology, Inc. (acquired by PerkinElmer
Optoelectronics). Mr. Romero has completed advanced training in Six
Sigma quality control and LEAN manufacturing. Romero is a graduate
of California State University – Sacramento, and holds a Bachelor
of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. He continued his
education at University of California at Davis, working towards a
Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering.
Rafael Olano : VP of Manufacturing
Mr. Olano has more than 25 years experience as
a scientific glassblower and R&D Technician starting with ILC
Technology, Inc. in 1980, continuing until 2002 when he was a
co-founder of APT. Mr. Olano worked on all aspects of lamp
production, specializing in the critical area of quartz glass to
metal seal technology. Mr. Olano developed the impact seal
technology for the National Ignition Facility (NIF) at Lawrence
Livermore Laboratories and also developed graded seal technology
for short arc lamps manufactured by Optical Radiation Corp. Mr.
Olano attended the National University in El Salvador where he
studied engineering.
Barry Smith : VP of Marketing and Sales
Mr. Smith has more than 30 years experience in
the design, manufacture and marketing of xenon and krypton high
pressure arc lamps and xenon and krypton flash lamps. He began his
career at ILC Technology in 1976 and had global responsibility for
the company’s flash lamp products prior to joining APT in 2003.
Author of numerous technical papers and an invited speaker at laser
and electro-optics conferences, Mr. Smith is considered one of the
industry’s leaders in flash lamp design and performance. He is a
graduate of San Jose State University and holds a Bachelor of
Science degree in Physics and Mathematics and a Master of Science
degree in Physics.
